In some ways, Cryfield is the Australia of City districts: smallest, most dangerous and usually last on everybody’s minds.

Downtown is where it’s all happening. It’s the beating heart of the City, pumping millions of souls in and out every day, locals and visitors of all walks of life who come here for business, pleasure, or both.

Every day and throughout the night, the Industrial Zone continues its mechanical march. It chugs down copious amounts of raw materials alongside a steady stream of blue-collar workers from the nearby residential districts.

Centuries ago, maybe even millennia, migrating people first settled in the area that is now the City. They were met by indigenous tribes, as history tells us, or, if you want the romanticized version, by monsters, spirits, and gods.

Life is tough for the hard-working people of this neighborhood. They struggle daily to survive and make
ends meet.

Hól is where you go when there's nowhere else to go. Hól is where you stay when no other place wants you. It's a refuge in the northern Industrial Zone for those who were cast out by the City, a diverse community brought together by nothing but their otherness.

There are many Relics, magical items and other similar whatnots in this City. Some of those might be lost or hidden in its farthest recesses; others could fall into hands of a used-to-be unsuspecting Sleeper, now an awaken Rift who’s now ready to use its powers for better or worse. But most of the Relics which aren’t the first nor the latter end up here: in L’Estrange Antiques.

The abandoned fairground was once the home of a successful business operation, run by the Lemnos family, a family of distant Sinti descent who over the years assimilated carnival folk from many different ethnicities. The carnival was one of the strangest and most popular shows in town, and it basked in its unregulated status outside City limits.

Step into a Pandoloria Health Clinic and you will behold a vision of the future. These wholesome bright white spaces are perfectly designed with indoor plants and softly-moving animations on screen walls. Cares are taken away when the personalised AI assistantwelcomes you in, helping you begin the process of your healing.

Don’t take this “newspaper” too seriously. Cryfield Echo isn’t sold at newsstands and it isn’t bought by people hungry for latest political scandals and juicy celebrity sensations.

These three detectives are the foundation of what makes Cryfield’s Police department so… well, ineffective, cold-hearted and inevitably corrupt through and through.

The first time our Crew heard the name “Belenko” was from Sammy Jefferson Jr. during their investigation in E02: Killing Her Softly. Back then they had no idea about the headache this name would cause them over the next year of their lives.

Everybody in the City knows Edmund Chow. However, almost no one realizes it. For everyday citizen, his name hardly rings a bell, but his company, Chow Industries Inc., is probably the most expansive megacorporation in the entire City.
